Details of the day

Dress code  Please dress in as much pink as possible.  You can also buy a Race for Life tee-shirt and other merchandise online.  Click here for more information.

Parking The event starts and finishes at the far end of the park, where there is a relatively large car park. If this is full, you can park on the road all the way alongside the park in the marked spaces.  Please don't park anywhere other than in marked spaces to avoid problems.  At our start time on a Sunday morning there should be lots of empty spaces.

Registration, refreshments, the raffle etc. will all be near this main car park.

Registration is from 7.30am  We are starting earlier this year, in an effort to make the whole process go more smoothly. This is to enable us to start setting off as close to 8.30 as possible.  Lots of you have lunch plans you want to get away for, and of course we want time to draw the raffle, so please try to make it on time.

Registration will be split into two:

-  for people who have pre-registered and pre-paid, where we will tick you off and give you your number to attach to your tee-shirt.

-  for people who have not registered.  Please bring along a cheque made payable to Cancer Research UK (for 20 euros or £15 per person) or cash of 20euros per person.  You will be asked to give your name and email address and sign to show that you have read our disclaimer, which will be displayed on the registration table.   You will again be given your number to attach to your tee-shirt.

Warming up  We are delighted to have Veronqiue and Sarah from Funfit4life once again running a warm up session before the event.  This will be near to registration so please join in.

The race/walk/stroll starts and finishes in the same place.  We plan to have runners setting off first, to enable them to get started and avoid a bit of a mess.  If you are walking/strolling do bear in mind that they may come up behind you are some stage so please make way for them.

The route is from the main car park, down the flat path alongside the road and to the lake, five times around the lake and then back to the start point.  The 5 post it notes on your number are to enable you to know how many laps you have done.  Each time you complete a lap you remove a post it.

Refreshments All participants are offered a small bottle of water.  We will also have other refreshments: orange and apple juice, fruit and some biscuits and cookes, for supporters and for after you have completed the event.  All of these are provided free of charge or donated, but please feel free to bring some change and make a donation into one of the collection boxes.

Raffle tickets and the draw  We have lots of lovely prizes and will be drawing the raffle at the end of the event (weather permitting).  Raffle tickets will be on sale until the last minute – they are 2euros each, so again please bring some money to buy them.

General housekeeping  We will have bin bags so please use these or take your rubbish home!  This will mean less work for the organisers and volunteers and also ensure that we do not upset anyone or indeed get fined for littering!

Some of our volunteers, and indeed runners, will be taking photo's of the event.  These will be available on an online system as soon as possible after the event.  By giving us your email address we will be able to invite you see them, let you know how much money we raise and keep you informed about next year!

Finally, thank you all so much for participating – we hope you have a lovely morning and help to raise lots of funds for the vital work of Cancer Research UK.

Due to being able to use the same venue once again, many of the details for the actual day remain the same.

Click here for a map to l'Etang.

The route will be alongside the road, starting from the large car park, around the lake 5 times, and back towards the car park.  It will thus avoid the difficult paths, making the event suitable for all ages and all abilities.

We will organise the event so sprinters and runners set off first, with walkers and strollers following on behind.

Those who jog or run Race for Life often complete the 5k course in about 30 to 45 minutes. Walkers take about an hour, but there is no pressure to finish in a certain time.

Please note: Race for Life events are not competitive, so you can go at your own pace.
